Nothing to do with London

This has nothing to do with London but I just wanted to say congratulations to Kyle and Charity on their new baby boy...Noah!

More plays...

Now let us cover the bad and the ugly, cause I already covered the good. By the Bog of Cats...AWFUL!! It had Holly Hunter in it so you'd think, hey this is worth going to. And, it was supposedly based on the story of Medea, which I had read just a few weeks prior and was very excited about. What a disappointment. The Mandate was alright, it was based in Russia and was about Anastasia whatever her last name is. It was a lot of slap-stick humor. The History Boys, this play was also pretty good depending on your taste. Macbeth, this was the play I was reviewing, the more I thought about it the less I liked it. King Lear, we got to go a discussion with the director before this and it was pretty interesting if I hadn't been so tired. The play was way boring though until the storm, right Emily? Let's see...Playboy of the West Indies, I actually liked this one quite a bit but the audience was unruly and it kind of ruined the play. The set was really good though and the actors put on accents. Patience was a play that would most likely never be done in the Grand Rapids area. This play was depressing and pointless, however, being a Christian college it was a lot like the story of Job. Which was its only redeeming value since some guys got naked on stage. Grand Hotel was the last play we saw and it was a musical. Not good or bad, just real mediocre. I really don't even remember the plot. Anyway, enjoy some quotes...

"Come on Shakespeare! You dropped the ball" - Angie (in relation to Macbeth, I think)

"I was introduced to them after I was introduced to their penises" - Lorien (in relation to Patience)

"When actors die on stage, it's usually a bad thing" - Dave"Keen observation" - Mary

"Eh, it's gonna be either good or bad, probably" - Adam"Well as long as we've got it narrowed down. . ." - Megan (in relation to The Mandate)

Finally London!

So our stay in Stratford got boring pretty quick and we were all so excited when we finally got to London!

We saw Big Ben of course! We also went to the British Museum (where we lost a member of our group) and Buckingham Palace. OH! and a couple of people were filmed for British television!!

Unfortunately it never aired, but it's still pretty cool. Some of the better plays we saw were His Dark Materials. Which was actually a two part play but only the first part was good, actually the first night was amazing. Aladdin was really amazing too. It was pantomime which is something that's not done in America but is really funny. What made it especially hilarious was first, Ian Mckellen played a cross dresser, he played Aladdin's mom, and also there were technical problems with the show but it only made it better!

"So there's this polar bear and he asks his mom, 'Mom, am I part grizzly?' and she says no dear you're a polar bear..."
