Tag!

Alright Sarah, I'll play....

Here are the rules:
1. Go to the 4th folder in your computer where you store your pictures.
2. Pick the 4th picture in that folder.
3. Explain the picture.
4. Tag 4 people to do the same

John and I had only known each other about a month and a half here. His mom had two extra tickets to the Griffens game through her work and they were box seats. John and I were fortunate enough to be able to go and this was also the night we made our relationship "official." In the picture we are filling up on the good food.

I tag:
1. Mom B.
2. Lori B.
3. Carolyn B.
4. Aunt Dee (yes, this means you must create a blog!)

A honeymoon on the rocks please

Well I suppose there's a lot to update on but we all know the biggest thing. I GOT MARRIED!! I am now officially (but not legally yet) Shari Harris. How exciting. As far as I know everything went really well during the ceremony. The only snag was that I almost tripped going up the stairs to say our vows. But apparently not many people noticed. I don't personally have any pictures on my camera but I poached this one from Sarah's blog...oh what would I do without Sarah's blog?
*CAUTION*
- The next part is cheesy, proceed at own risk -
- I'm so happy to finally be married to the man of my dreams. He is wonderful to me and I love him with everything inside of me. It was great to spend a whole week with him nonstop, I mean, we didn't leave each other's side for more than 5 minutes the whole trip (minus bathroom stops). I never thought that I could be this happy or this in love with someone. It is amazing! -
The honeymoon was wonderful. The drive took us through the mountains almost the whole way before arriving at Myrtle Beach where we had a room with an ocean view. We saw Le Grande Cirque and even got to be a part of the show. We also went to Ripley's aquarium and Ripley's Believe it or Not. We saw The Dark Knight at the IMAX, went mini golfing in a castle, went to a place called MagiQuest and spent most of our time at Broadway at the Beach. We collected a lot of shells on the beach outside our hotel and even found 3 shark's teeth! We went to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and had the best margaritas ever! And on the way back we bought a Wii! We had such a wonderful time. Did I mention how happy I am?
Pictures of the honeymoon to come later...

Law

So here's a list of my favorite crazy laws that I stumbled across for Alabama...enjoy!

Bear wrestling matches are prohibited.
Boogers may not be flicked into the wind.
Dominoes may not be played on Sunday.
Hunting is not allowed on Sunday.
It is illegal for a driver to be blindfolded while operating a vehicle.
It is illegal to stab yourself to gain someone's pity.
It is illegal to wear a fake moustache that causes laughter in church.
It is legal to drive the wrong way down a one-way street if you have a lantern attached to the front of your automobile.
It is illegal for a husband to beat his wife with a stick larger in diameter than his thumb.
Men may not spit in front of the opposite sex.
Mobile: It is unlawful to howl at ladies inside the city limits.
Putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death.
You cannot chain your alligator to a fire hydrant.
You may not have an ice cream cone in your back pocket at any time.

And just to be fair, Michigan, though I don't think they're as crazy or fun, you decide...

A woman isn't allowed to cut her own hair without her husband's permission.
In Detroit, Michigan it is illegal to sleep in a bathtub.
In Rochester, Michigan, anyone bathing in public must have his or her bathing suit inspected by a police officer.
It is legal for a robber to file a law suit, if he or she got hurt in your house.
Smoking while in bed is illegal.
The use of the names of dead presidents to sell alcohol in Michigan is prohibited.

Gross!

Well I know it's been a LONG time since I last updated and I've been meaning to...I even had one completely ready to post but then the internet went down. So this won't be very long but I have a customer story for ya'll. *WARNING* It's kinda gross, proceed with caution.

So this guy come into the fitting room and said he had two items to try on, so Kelsey and I tell him he can go ahead. Soon after, he calls one of us over, I'm not sure who he really wanted, but he wanted us to get him a different size in the shorts he had grabbed. We do this all the time so I had no problem with it. He opened the door and I noticed he didn't have a shirt on. Gross, cause he was in his 50's and was kinda fat, but tolerable. Well, I get over to the door to grab the shorts and he proceeds to open the door the rest of the way and step out a little ways and he DOESN'T HAVE ANY PANTS ON! He had underwear on but this underwear was like a man-thong or something. It covered the essentials but not much else. I was disgusted! Then he stands there talking to me trying to tell me what size he needed in the shorts and just kept talking. At this point I had turned my head and just kept listening. After I left to go check on the item I called security over and thankfully they responded quickly. I told them what had happened so the security team lead took the pants back to the guy and told him he could get dressed and then come out to get the pants but that we didn't have the size he wanted. The customer sounded like he was surprised to hear a man's voice and he certainly didn't open the door that time. I felt sick for about 15 minutes afterward, I was nervous and shaking and disgusted! Why do some people suck so much?! Why in the world would any guy open the door in just his underwear when there are two girls sitting right there?! UGH!

Okay, so that's my story. I apologize if you were disgusted as well but you can't even imagine how I felt. I mean we're talking feeling like I wanna throw up, feeling like I want to kick this guy where it hurts, feeling like I wanna cry...it was awful.

Alright, on the bright side....We're down to about one month! I can't wait! I still need a cake and then everything else is kind of small stuff that I can take care of as I think of it.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLAUDIA!! I had fun last night. And thanks Sarah, I lifted this picture from your blog...I hope you don't mind.

Shower

I had my bridal shower Saturday and it was fabulous! A big thanks to everyone who helped out with it and to everyone who got us something...the gifts were amazing and so much more than I ever expected. Here's an incomplete list.

China
Good silverware
Everyday silverware
Picture frames
Baking pans
Colander (2 - one plastic and one stainless steel)
Noodles and pasta sauce
Comforter
Throw Pillows
Wall Hangings
Ice cube trays
Wooden spoons
Flatware tray
Dishes
Crock pot
Wok
Cutting board
Gift card to Bed, Bath and Beyond (which John and I used some of today)
and lots and lots of recipes!

I'm sure I missed some things since I don't have the list in front of me but I'm so thankful for all these gifts...they are truly a blessing. We also played some fun games. The first was to guess how many tootsie rolls were in a jar. Aunt Marie won that. Then they passed around a gift to different people (the mother of the bride, the person with the smallest shoe size, etc...) until it ended with the person to Kindra's right. Kindra's boss, Deb, won that one. Finally each person had to give me eight pieces of advice, each starting with a different letter of my first and middle name. John's cousin Rachel won that one. Her advice was "share the covers with Johnny." Always a good idea. When I have the advice in front of me I'll share all my favorites with people. Though I one I absolutely love is my quote of the day.

Saturday night John and I went to a party that one of his coworkers was having. I was able to get to know some of his coworkers better. His boss was there for a little while with his new son, Noah, who is so cute! We had a great time. Today we went to church and then to our house before I headed off to work. Besides having to work today I had a great weekend.

Quote of the Day: "Run, don't walk to church." - Aunt Marie

Joke of the Day: A friend said to me, "I think the weather is trippy." I said, "No, man, it's not the weather that's trippy, perhaps it's the way we perceive it that is indeed trippy." And then I realized I just should have just said, "Yeah." - MH

Pictures!

The loft, repainted

The game cuppard, we took the short doors off

The kitchen, repainted cuppards and new hardware

A new light fixture, a source of unecessary frustration which led to John falling down the stairs :(

The small bedroom, repainted

The small bedroom again

The master bedroom

The ceiling fan in the kitchen, another source of unecessary frustration

The living room

The living room
The bathroom, repainted
The bathroom, more lights
The bathroom, no cuppards sticking out
The bathroom, John and Dan put in ceramic tile! It's my favorite room.

Quote of the Day: "Are you familiar with the country of Japan?" - Some random guest at Target to me
Joke of the Day: "I saw a girl with a flower, she was plucking off the petals. She was saying, 'he loves me, he loves me not'. It's a good thing flowers can't talk. What would it say? 'Damn that hurts! Damn, that hurts as well! Dammit, leave me alone! I'm no longer pretty. And he loves you not. I could have told you I have an even number of petals!" - MH

No breakfast in Hell

Friday night John and I went to G-pa and G-ma Bergy's for dinner along with Daren. We had a very good time. Grandma's dinner was amazing as always, you never leave her house hungry. After dinner we played a rousing card game of GOLF. Daren won and I think Grandpa lost. It was quite fun and in one of the last rounds I was able to score a -25! This is a rarity for me so I was very excited. After that we sat around and talked for a couple hours. I said something about how Dad signed my diploma because he was president of the school board my senior year. Then Grandpa pulled out his father's eigth grade diploma which had his father's (my great-great grandpa's) signature on it. It was very cool. Since we were into some of the old stuff anyway they got out their ration stamps from the war and a picture of Grandpa when he was in the military. We also saw Grandma's high school stuff. It was really a wonderful night and I learned a lot about my family.

Other than that John and I have been working on the house a lot. The bathroom is finally done! John moved in the other night and we're finishing bringing stuff over today. I'm going to take the "after" pics today and then post them as soon as I can, which may be later today, I don't know. We also saw Step-Brothers last night. Very crude but VERY funny. You can never go wrong when Judd Apatow and Will Ferrell get together. They also did Anchorman and Talladega Nights.

I recently rediscovered this song and thought I'd post it for you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utGKO04E0zw&feature=related
Breakfast by Newsboys

Hold the milk, put back the sugar
They are powerless to console
We’ve gathered here to sprinkle ashes
From our late friend’s cereal bowl.

Breakfast Clubbers, say the motto
That he taught us to repeat:
“You will lose it in your gym class,
if you wait til noon to eat”.

Back when the Chess Club, said our eggs were soft
Every Monday he’d say grace and hold our juice aloft
Oh, none of us knew his checkout time would come so soon
But before his brain stopped waving, he composed this tune:

Chorus:WHEN THE TOAST IS BURNED
AND ALL THE MILK HAS TURNED
AND CAPTAIN CRUNCH IS WAVING FAREWELL
WHEN THE BIG ONE FINDS YOU
MAY THIS SONG REMIND YOU
THAT THEY DON’T SERVE BREAFAST IN HELL

Breakfast clubbers, drop the hankies
Though to some our friend was odd,
that day he bought those pine pyjamas
His check was good with God

Those here without the lord,
How do you cope?
For this morning we don’t mourn
Like those who have no hope

Oh rise up, Fruit Loop lovers-
Sing out sweet and low
With spoons held high
We bid our brother “Cheerio!"

Quote of the Day: "She jumped out of the car like they were giving away food stamps!" - Michael

Joke of the Day: An escalator can never break: it can only become stairs. You should never see an Escalator Temporarily Out Of Order sign, just Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the convenience. - MH

Interview

I have an interview for that promotion on Monday at 4:30. If everyone could please pray from now till then...not the whole time, just once a day is fine. But seriously, I really have a desire to be in this position and I would greatly appreciate all the help and prayer I can get.

In other news: The house is almost done! We'll finish the bathroom this weekend and then it's pretty much just odds and ends that will have to be done. I'll post some "after" pics once I take them.

Wedding plans are going pretty well. I need to finalize things with my cake person and I'm hoping the invitations will come in soon. After that it's gonna be all the little stuff tofigure out. I'm very excited!

Joke of the Day: "Someone handed me a picture and said, "This is a picture of me
when I was younger." Every picture is of you when you were younger. "
Here's a picture of me when I'm older." Where'd you get that camera man? - Mitch Hedberg

Cake!

So we met with a cake lady today which went really well. She gave us samples in the form of cupcakes and it was excellent! She's very reasonably priced as well. I think we're going to meet with someone else next week just to get other ideas and pricing but I was very impressed with this lady. This is a picture of what I want my cake to look like, only mine will have roses.
**Note - I posted part of this joke earlier but I added the rest so I can't rob you of this one.
Joke of the Day: I tried to walk into Target, but I missed. I think the entrance to Target should have people splattered all around. Then I finally walk in, the guy says, "Can I help you?" "Just practicing!" - MH

Two bedroom house

Joke of the Day: I bought a house, it's a two-bedroom house. But I think it's up to me how many bedrooms there are, don't you? Forget you, real estate lady, this bedroom has an oven in it. This bedroom has a lot of people sitting around watching TV. This bedroom is over in that guy's house. "Sir, you've got one of my bedrooms, are you aware? Don't decorate it." - Mitch Hedberg

I should be in bed right now but I'm not. I worked for a good chunk of the day today and then went to the house. John grilled some chicken for us which was good. Then we sat in our basement and watched Finding Nemo. John hooked up some surround sound which made it even better. I'm very much enjoying owning a home and putting lots of work into it but it's hard not being able to live there for another THREE MONTHS!! I guess I'll manage.

Mom and I will meet with a cake lady today. I'm very excited about getting everything done. I really just want the day to be here already.

I ain't no Mac, I'm a Peter-built!

I've been wanting to post these pics and just haven't gotten around to it yet...but here they are.

Mmm...Peter loves his food!
Giddy up Cubby!

In the S-th

Joke of the Day: When I play the South, they say "ya'll" in the South. They take out the "O" and the "U". So when I'm in the South I try to talk like that so people understand me. "Hello, can I have a bowl of chicken noodle s-p? Come on, I'm in the South, you understand. I mean I'm in the Sth, and I want some s-p!" "I stubbed my toe, -ch!" "I need to lay down on the c-ch!" "I need to get the heck -t of the S-th!" - Mitch Hedberg

I thought Aunt Dee and Hannah would enjoy this one. Love ya'll! ;)

Random Ramblings

I'm feeling very in love right now while listening to this song. I can close my eyes and just dream. I love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs7tUAXZVTw&feature=related
A little cheesy I know, but I've always loved this kind of stuff.

Yesterday my mom and I picked out the flowers for my wedding! It was a little difficult because I didn't really know what I wanted...well, I did but there were so many different ways to do it that it was a bit overwhelming. But I figured it out and I think it'll be really pretty.

Today John and I are going to work on our house some more. We'll be working all weekend actually since I don't have to work at Target. Speaking of work...I really need prayer right now for a promotion that I'm going for. It's a clerical position so I would be doing something that's closer to what I really want to do, even though it's still at Target. But I've heard that quite a few people have applied for it so I would really appreciate ya'll praying. It's something that I really desire to do and it would be so much better than what I'm doing now AND it would be a raise. So please pray.

"I tried to walk into Target, but I missed." - Mitch Hedberg

Oxymoron of the Day: Today at work, I was putting out the clothes that came in on the truck. In the girls department both swimsuits and winter coats came in. Winter?! Yuck!

Joke of the Day: "I think they could take sesame seeds off the market, and I wouldn’t even care. I can’t imagine five years from now saying, “Damn, remember sesame seeds? What happened? All the buns are blank!” They’re gonna have to change that McDonald’s song, “Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a … bun.” How does a sesame seed stick to a bun? Thats magical! There’s got to be some sesame seed glue out there! Either that or they’re adhesive on one side. Take the sesame seed out, remove the backing, place it on the bun. Now your bun will look spectacular! What does a sesame seed grow into? I dunno, we never give them a chance. What is a ses-a-me? It's a street. It's a way to open shit." - Mitch Hedberg
