That's MY KING!

So I lifted this from Sarah's blog because I think it's a great reminder of God we serve. If you haven't seen it, enjoy!

Tragedy and Triumph

Wow, I know it's been a long time since the last post and SO MUCH has been going on.

First, we all know about the tragedy (and if you don't know than you probably shouldn't even be reading my blog). The first few days after it happened it was such a whirlwind of events and emotion. John's uncle Matt let the family stay at his very nice home in Jenison. It was great to finally meet all, and I do mean ALL, of John's aunts and uncles. Though it wasn't under the best of circumstances I really had a lot of fun. There were a couple days where we sifted through what felt like a million pictures. It was nice to see everyone come together and share stories and memories and I learned a lot about my dad. Even though with a couple people things fell apart at the end I'm glad, in fact I'm excited, to stay in touch with the aunts and uncles who were there through the roughest times in the beginning. Aunt Delaire is more fun than I can even tell you, Aunt Damien is very sweet and fun to be with, and Uncle Ramsey is very caring and fun too. I have to admit I was overly flattered that weekend. They all kept saying how nice I was and how much of a support I was, not only to John but to the whole family. It actually got a little nauseating by the end, but they were sweet to say it and I can't lie, it was nice to hear.

The burial was very nice too. Seven of us were there that day. Aunt Damien read a prayer out of a book which was very fitting. Then we all held hands around the cremains and said the Lord's Prayer together. We leaned on each other and our faith for support and I felt very close to everyone there. Aunt Delaire even sort of got to be there in spirit since mom was wearing her scarf. John and Uncle Ramsey also got to perform the burial which I think really helped them not only spiritually but also to get their aggressions out. I haven't been to a lot of funerals in my life, nor have I had someone SO close to me pass away but I think this was the nicest funeral and service that I have ever experienced. Maybe I was just proud because I helped put it together, but I think more than that I was proud to be a part of such a wonderful family, who I had only just met that week.

In happier news I found and bought, well mom bought, my wedding dress! This is by far the best part of wedding planning. I had so much fun trying on dresses and it was nice to have my three sisters, two moms, and a partridge in a pear tree (aka my best friend) there to help me pick it out. Ashley was there too and she had fun watching and helping whenever she could. I really wish I could post pictures but I can't because then John would see me in it and I don't want that. But you must trust me when I say this dress is GORGEOUS! This was the first dress that I came across in my online searches that I felt I really wanted. And on top of it all it finally feels real. I mean, I can tell everyone all day long that I'm getting married but it just didn't sink in until I tried on the dress. There was also a T-shirt that said "GROOM, sorry ladies I'm taken" and I was tempted to buy it for John and make him wear it under all his clothes. But that would be silly and he doesn't need a shirt to do the talking for him. Anyway, I guess that's all for now. I hope you enjoyed such a long post and I will try to post some fun pictures soon. Till then, thanks to everyone for being there for me through the bad times and the good. Love you!
